I have noticed an interesting trend lately where ever I go people are very focused on their little world, but they are not Paying Attention. There was this great scene at my Starbucks where 5 woman where standing in line all of them furiously working the smart phone. I just had to comment as I wished them all a Merry Christmas and made some spur of the moment comment I am famous for.
“We are truly ships passing in the night,” if you really want to experience this take you nephews and nieces out to lunch without first confiscating their mobile devices. Real people who are all around us have become so much chaff in the wind, no need to actually smile to a flesh a blood human being. After all you are focusing on texting a smiley face to someone in another city or continent. The art of paying Attention to the real world around you is a dying art in deed.
it’s not just social media but across the board, even in the area of faith people would rather argue about some circular reasoning they call the science of theology, than pay attention to another point of view. This wonderful good world of God deserves our attention even as we focus on our kingdoms.
Remember in the end what does it gain us to get it all through the power of focus, and lose the joy of the Journey because you’re not Paying Attention..
