Many well-intentioned people are under the illusion that they save people from Hell. Now by Hell I mean the Dante version of Hell combined with the idea that we are born blemished and destined for its gates. Most Christians remember the story and it is a story where Jesus uses the example of a rich man who goes to Hell. The real moral of the story is that rich man would not rescue someone from Hell on Earth, did you get that because I think it bears repeating until the lie being told as the Gospel is revealed for what it is.
A parable which is a make-believe story told in order to teach the reader a lesson, this parable is not about some pagan view of Hell after death, but Hell right here and right now. The man in the story represents a view of the world that is all screwed up pardon my french, and to go further the rich man represents cold formalistic Religion. You see this rich man represents those who have made salvation all about angels and the afterlife. Now the poor man in the life to come is given the advantages he could have enjoyed in his previous life, if only those with the blessing had focused on Heaven on Earth. By the life to come I do not mean Heaven or Hell over there, but rather a New Heaven & Earth combination here and now were the first shall be last and the last shall be first.
So the idea of saving people from Hell must become literal to us but not a Hell way out there, which is a religious myth. A myth created to take people’s minds away from Religions refusal to help in creating Heaven on earth, while building and ever bloated empire for itself. I live in a town where some of the people creating the most Hell here are those who believe they are saved from Hell out there after death. As Jesus taught his disciples of which I count myself one it is the eradication of Hell on earth that is the focus of the God of Heaven, and the sooner we start saving people from that Hell the sooner we will truly understand the Real Gospel message of The Kingdom.
Do you see the original gospel is not about saving people from Hell over there, but rather from Hell right here and right now. It’s a movement of transformation not of earths escape to Heaven, but Heavens infiltration of earth and the displacement of Hell everywhere we find it, and the rest literally takes care of itself!
So here in the West when we talk about Salvation for the most part it is individual in Nature almost Narcissistic. We talk about a person having to make a decision and then you join a group of other saved individuals. You are then rewarded for making this choice or so you are told, with the promise of Heaven. A place we are told that is full of individuals who have made a similar choice during their life time here on fallen earth. Of course I need not remind you of the consequences of not making this choice during your lifetime here on earth.
That being said what if Salvation is not about the individual but rather about the group, what if the reason the group is Saved is be transformation for the Whole. You see in the west if you ask people what they need to survive rarely will they say a Family much less a Global Family.
Now here is a radical thought but what if the Whole Globe is already saved but this potential rests with all of us believing it. I mean that Global Salvation is just awaiting a cooperative work from within. This Creation all of it just waiting for cooperation from the gods within, from those of us who have been saved from the thinking of Us vs Them. You see we become saved not from Hell but from Hellish thinking, we become saved not for heaven but from a heaven that doesn’t effect this Globe. We become saved from any Religion with narrow, individualist and tribal interpretations of the language of Salvation. We are saved all the whole globe we just need to believe in each other and our global future in Love. Can we start with just ourselves and a Salvation built around “I got mine tribes?” No that’s not the point of this present and powerfully potential Salvation, and the reason why that “Salvation” is not working we are running contrary to God’s will that All be saved or rather restored. Now when I say restored I am not talking about some perfect work, but rather the loving process of co-creation for the ages to come.
Because when you become aware it was and has been loved and saved for this process of co-creation by God. Then you realize Salvation is God’s and Our global project beyond mere tribal and religious distinctions but yet including them as well. It is here that we begin to rethink and remodel that beautiful Global message of The Prophets, Jesus and many Others. It is here that we begin to reach out for other like minded and enlightened souls on this Big Blue Globe. It is here we realize Global Salvation merely waits for our cooperation as the Daughters and Sons of the Living God.
Now what we do with the revelation “We does include me, but can’t exclude Them” is the great work of this Spiritual New Age!
So this post was inspired by a Pastor from Colorado who posted the following question on my Facebook page ” Are you saying Buddha will be in heaven? Because according to (Romans 10:13) only those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. ” Know I understand that to some people the quoting any verse from the bible settles the question, God said it and they believe it.
I have a few questions how ever and being the local heretic that I am, I have no fear in asking them. I hope in doing this we can come to see the danger in taking any verse or verses literal in all time and space.
So the most obvious question is how could Buddha confess the name of a person who was born 600 years after Buddha died?
How could Buddha therefore be kept from Heaven based on a Name that did not exist at the time of his life?
How could Buddha be held to any verse in the New Testament seeing it would not be written until 660 years after Buddha died?
Therefore How could Buddha be held to the Catholic or Protestant Confession of Faith based on those very scriptures?
Is Buddha in Heaven personally based on his life I truly believe according to the teaches of the Jesus he never knew it’s quite possible if not probable.
Luke 13:23 Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?” So he said to them, 13:24 “Exert every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.
If this was the end of this story and Jesus is talking about the whole world, further more if Jesus is talking about literal Heaven & Hell in this story then Yes most human beings ever born go to Hell. If you connect this verse to John 14:6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” and interpret this in a Protestant way you can also exclude all Catholics and all other non Born Again believers. How ever if any of these interpretive assumptions are wrong, then just maybe there is a wider hope then we have been lead to believe.
LUKE 13:25 Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, then you will stand outside and start to knock on the door and beg him, ‘Lord, let us in!’ But he will answer you, ‘I don’t know where you come from.’
So which house are we talking about here, could it be the house of Israel? In which case this section of scriptures scope would be restricted to the house of Israel. Could Jesus be speaking of the end of one season and the beginning of another? Do we have to understand this as an absolute and universal statement, or Particular and local?
Luke 13:26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’
This verse appears to be limiting this verse to a particular time as well as location. I understand it so much easier to just understand this verse as absolute and universal but I would plead to you that is just not the case.
Luke 13:27 But he will reply, ‘I don’t know where you come from! Go away from me, all you evildoers!’ 13:28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets in the kingdom of God but you yourselves thrown out.
Ok can you see these are people who are evil doers we have narrow the group Jesus is talking to even further. Wow could Jesus really be talking to a very select group of people and not the whole world. Also is this story talking about Heaven or a coming Earthly Kingdom and did I miss something here or has Hell been mentioned?
Luke 13:29Then people will come from east and west, and from north and south, and take their places at the banquet table in the kingdom of God. 13:30 But indeed, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last.”
So there is more people than just these evil doers who refuse the narrow gate, and that some who thought they where first or preferred will be last but not forgotten? These teachings of Jesus are much more hopeful than I was taught or lead to believe.Could it be that Jesus is the savior of the world after all, and not the leader of a very small secret society.
