What’s the Point? (thoughts on prayer)

There was a time when I saw prayer as a Point to Point transaction, by that I mean that I prayed to God in Jesus Name and then God took the prayer under consideration. It was so to speak out of my hands at that point and I could go about my life never certain how the God at the end of the prayer point decided things, if at all.
I have come to some conclusions concerning this kind of prayer and the biggest one is, God is not a Point out there to pray too. There is no Point in a Place called heaven where God much like Santa Claus receives the letters we send him. I find this to be a very limited way to understand and view that field of awareness and energy which permeates the Cosmos.
Prayer for me relates to a Point of contact that in fact is not an actual point that can be found in time and space. The Point is my love and my awareness of a need in life around me, that is in need of an infusion of life everlasting. (if I may use that term) So that Prayer is directly connected with my awareness and responsibility for the life around me, even that which is beyond my line of sight.  So that when I pray I in fact act as an agent of the Source of all life, and the Point to Point contact is between the Source through me and the need.   I take responsibility as a potential creator myself and one in possession of the awareness that my divine life matters, and can tip a balance in the life around me.

Therefore I do not pray any longer to point where God is in Heaven through Jesus, as though I need all the distance, middle men and personal abandonment that thinking implies.  Simply put I take my divinity seriously and much like the Genesis myth story, I apply my growing spiritual abilities to the life around me, in order to make the world a better place.  I do not judge what that goodness has to look like nor do I judge the outcomes,  I just commit to Loving with all the spiritual energy I posses that which is within and without.

From Belief to Awareness

dark-night-of-the-soul

So you are on this Journey away from a fixed belief system, one in which faith in a grouping of doctrines and practices is required. That of course is easier said than done and you find yourself with an empty house and a little bit of anxiety for the choice you have made.  You were convinced God was pleased with beliefs you could neither see nor confirm, and ideas that seemed to contradict each other concerning prayer, or how many angels fit on the head of a pin.

Let me say what actually attracted me to Jesus at first although at the time it’s not how he was promoted and I mean promoted, was the awareness he had concerning the things that really mattered, and the awareness he practiced as a spiritual man here on earth.  Ask yourself this the things that he spoke of and lived daily were they matters of fixed faith, or were they what I like to call matter of action & awareness.  Matters such as Love, Devotion, Kindness, Care & Concern for others, these are matters that require awareness and the action in love that follows.

This matter of following Jesus is not actually about belief in fixed systems of doctrines, creeds & ceremony, and this is what has been bugging you at a deep spiritual level for quite some time.  You just couldn’t get your finger on the problem so to speak, but now as your spiritual awareness grows so does your spiritual discernment that something is wrong.

So the answer isn’t switching fixed systems of thought from say Calvinism to Universalism, although that’s a move in the right direction it’s a move that ultimately brings you back to a system again.  The answer is lies in moving into and awareness that moves you into action that fully embraces life, as Jesus did as the Buddha did and many, many others as well.

We will talk more about this awareness in the future but for know like the movie “Unbreakable” with Bruce Willis you need to start practicing this love based action awareness, because it is the Bomb indeed it is The Christ!

Can I get a Witness

Sometimes this is the cry of my life, “Can I get a Witness.”

As long as things a happening to you.

As long as your thoughts and emotions dominate your life.

As long as the interpretations of others dominate your meditations.

Your life is in need of a Witness and believe it or not you are that Witness!

All this stuff is a distraction unless you become the Witness the one behind all the noise and commotion.

Like God you can be engaged in dynamic time and the creative process, but with being the victim or victor.

All things work together for good for the Witness, who is in love.

The Witness who lives in between what I am being to see as The Middle Path, dwells with God while living as the Witness of His/Her life.  What is needed is to take time in order to spend time, in that Space where a Witness lives and has His/Her Being.
