Change

It has been said “Change is Inevitable” but I have observed one thing that seems to have the capacity to resist change, and that is the Human Soul.  The biggest reason for this is simple, change makes a big mess of the relationships we hold so dear.  It also asks us to release Ideas, Assumptions and Opinions that we once thought where beyond question.

So most change must be forced upon us, while we are kicking and screaming all the way to transformation.  You know transformation, that process that once you start it you can’t get it to stop.  Most people are “Waiting for a Miracle,” you know that process that makes you change without any effort on your part.

Hey baby they are not going to change no matter how much you pray for a Miracle.  Because it’s too much work and they like the hole they dug for themselves.  Resistance I have come to find out is “Not Futile” after all,  Spirit really does resist the proud and give grace to the humble.

Want change then stop trying to change others and take the leap of faith, see where the Road Less Traveled takes you.  Or close your trap and accept whatever the fates dish out. Then you can tell the story about how your lot in life “must be God’s will” after all.

Let me let you in on a little secret, the change that matters is the distance from your head to your heart.  Little Things lead to Big Change, it’s not a Big Bang but rather an Slow Evolution over time and space.

So start by challenging an Assumption you have held for a long time, that on the face of it does not or is not working.  Then do the opposite, study the opposite and invest in it, with all your heart, soul and mind.

Truth be told you will not realize that you have changed, until one day in a moment of reflection you realize you are not the same person.  Then look around you and you will see those around you are not the same either, perspective does matter.

WHAT A MIRACLE!

God is in Control?

“God is in Control”

I have used this buzz phrase so many times as a Pastor I hardly even give it a second thought.  The other day I was meditating on a teaching of Jesus on Prayer, where He says to Pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Does this imply as I think it must that God is looking for more influence in this world than He presently has?  A quick review of the story of Genesis will reveal that God is looking for a Partnership not a Dictatorship.

So is “God in Control” or is it all “Out of Control” or somewhere “In between?”  Paul teaches that the creation is groaning waiting for the full revelation of the Daughters and Sons of the Living God to manifest.

So God is in Control but not in the way we mean it, God is in control of a great revealing in which God chooses to share Control over Creation.

This is the great missed message of the Gospel, it is so much bigger than just getting a ticket to Heaven.  So stop waiting for God to be in Control or to take over what is your responsibility.  God would love to be in Control, in and through you.  GOD wants to partnership with you in the transformation of creation around you!

The true gospel is not about a great escape (Rapture) and then life in the clouds with Jesus, rather it is about a new earth where we partner with God to heal and resurrect.

Mistakes “Portals to Change”

Mistakes really the Portals to Change in our life if we will:

Own Them…

See Them,

as Natural…

Confess Them,

Freely…

Don’t Fear Them,

Excuse,

or Deny Them…

Learn from &

Expect Them…

They are the Portals to

Change & Transformation…

Hello & Goodbye

Life is full of Hello and Goodbye, this is the Natural Flow of any Journey worth taking.  Forgiveness is a lot like Hello and Goodbye, depending on which direction everyone is traveling in.  This is on the face of it neither a judgment nor a dismissal of what went before, but rather how change and transformation unfolds.

If you hold no grudges in time one can see the subtle hand of gentler spirits, in this Journey called faith.  Sometimes a Goodbye in time can become another Hello but in a different context in time and space.  Other times Hello and Goodbye almost kiss each other in their passing.

This is why it is important to Forgive so that you are free to say Hello or Goodbye and thereby remain open to the voice of God.

Remember you own no relationships they are a gift that you both receive and release.  So fear neither Hello or Goodbye my friends for within those two words is a key to this Journey called Life.
